eDocArchive

Non-current Electronic Document and Image Archiving

eDocArchive is the RecFind 6 tool used to Archive non-current electronic documents and images (eDocs) to second level storage so as to reduce the size of the RecFind 6 database.

It was created in response to IT managers complaining about the size of the RecFind 6 database (now many Terabytes of electronic documents at most customer sites) and the backup time taken to back it up. It allows the customer to select a series of electronic documents (usually relatively inactive) and move them to secondary storage but, still able to be searched for and viewed form the RecFind client.

eDocArchive works by selecting eDocs and archiving of them to a special linked SQL Server Archive database; removing them from the currently active RecFind 6 database. To select eDocs for archiving, you use the search (i.e., Text, Metadata or Boolean) to select the eDocs you wish to archive and then archive them to the secondary SQL database.

Improved Database Backup and Restoration

This new process deletes the eDocs from the current database BUT, the eDoc Metadata remains with a link (a stub) to the archived object. Your current ‘active’ RecFind 6 database is then significantly smaller and faster to backup or restore. After archiving, you search for everything as you do now in the active RecFind 6 database. If you select an archived object, it can still be found and viewed from second level storage. The process is transparent to your users.

An essential tool for customers with huge numbers of electronic documents captured within RecFind 6. It facilitates better management of your electronic document data store whilst still providing instant access to any archived electronic document.

It is the perfect tool for any large Electronic Document Management or Records Management customer.
